Before lockdown we had a great musical evening with loads of local talent coming in and playing live to a crowd of 60 people. A buffet supper went down really well with those who came. A fantastic night.
We've had many more since we reopened and plan to do six a year from now on...adding bingo and a quiz.
Former World Champion, Joe Johnson gave us a great day in 2019, playing 10 local players in a fantastic atmosphere.
The day was such a success that we had the confidence to get the next one arranged as soon as we could.
Although Covid stopped us in our tracks, Cliff Thorburn was on our radar....
And here he is! The Grinder gave us a wonderful day in January, 2022, playing six frames and showing us some fantastic trick shots.
At 74 years of age, he was still a great attraction, making loads of time for our people and letting us into one or two secrets from his amazing career.
1991 World Champion John Parrott gave us another great day in October, 2022. The former BBC pundit, ex-Question of Sport Captain and Everton fan had us in stitches with his quips and one-liners. A super day of entertainment - he won 8-0.
Multi-time World Billiards Champion Dave Causier gave us another great day in November, 2023.
In six games he made two breaks over 200, two over 300 and a superb break of 578 in a marvelous display.
We run darts, dominoes, snooker and billiards competitions, mainly for our members, during the summer and over Christmas....they are always very popular and very competitive!
Our Community Garden now gives us the opportunity to have outdoor events like Open Days, and the occasional barbecue for our members - weather-permitting.
Great for socialising - and great value for money.
Coffee Mornings are now held every first Saturday of the month, so why not drop in from 11am until 1pm.
Have a cuppa and some fantastic home cooking and a look at what you might want to be part of.
We'll be glad to see you!
Every Wednesday and Thursday morning a group of our volunteers meet at Earth Balance to ensure our flowers, butterflies, ladybirds and other little bits are ready to sell at our coffee mornings.
We sell these items to raise money for the RNLI Newbiggin and SSAFA locally.
We love asking the Rieverdale Scout Group to get involved. They've done some super activity work with us, like decorating crowns we cut and painted for them for King's Coronation, and creating some fantastic garden designs when we asked them to last summer.
